Paradoxically, that sparked a desire to be noticed, so I deliberately stopped next to a bait station or crouched down right beside where someone had set down their rod. Just as one middle-aged man reeled in his line after feeling a bite, I struck a silly pose right next to him—and our eyes met. But he immediately turned his attention back. That indifference actually felt nice, and it made me feel like I could keep this up for a while longer. It depends on your reaction.
